Ohio Pole Bean - RARE heirloom 20 seeds

Ohio Pole Bean (also known as Miami Ohio Pole Bean) is a historic heirloom variety of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris). It's a vigorous pole bean that climbs 7–10 feet or more, requiring a sturdy trellis or strong support (it can overwhelm weaker structures like standard corn stalks).

This variety dates back to the late 18th century and was grown by Indigenous peoples including the Miami, Delaware (Lenape), Potawatomi, and Shawnee near Fort Wayne, Indiana (then Kekionga). In 1811, it was brought from Starke County, Ohio, to Baltimore by Quaker abolitionist Elisha Tyson.

Provide full sun, well-drained soil, and consistent moisture. Plant after the last frost, spacing seeds 4–6 inches apart along a tall trellis.
